Chinn and Chapman - very underrated songwriters

Stumbled across Fox on the Run on YouTube the other day, you’d never get away with that these days!

Sum.

I was 13 going on 14 when the leather clad Ms Quatro had her day in the sun. Teenage lust was rampant,i'm guessing Chim is of similar age to me and if that is the case then i fully understand what he saw in her.

Chim chim cha boo,

How can you come on here and admit that, its fucking disgusting?! Have you no shame at all?

You need to have a long hard look at yourself!

Seriously, how can anyone admit to liking Suzi Quattro?

I was in a corporate box and drunk. As a result I quite enjoyed them.

Something we often say to the audience at our gigs is the drunker you are, the better we'll sound.

I saw them at some shit festival at the O2 last summer I think. I was in a corporate box and drunk. As a result I quite enjoyed them.

Did a days work with them when they were relaunching the band without Brian Connolly. Best bit was the stretch limo ride from their publicist's offices in Park Lane to a recording studio in Shepherds Bush. The rest of the day and the new music was very forgettable.

Pretty sure I owned at least 2 if not 3 of those.

I seem to recall 7" singles were 42p at our local shop?

Actually, how many people besides me can stand up for virtually every song they ever liked without cringing?

Right from 'Two Little Boys' by Rolf Harris, through 'Can The Can' Suzie Quattro and 'Hello Hello (I'm Back Again) by Garry Glitter?

...and they are just the popular, mainstream, million sellers from wholesome acts.. .

Very sensible post. Every era has good stuff and not so good stuff however the business has decided to package it at the time.

Re: Sweet - much maligned
Every generation has its young teenagers who have their pop idols and remember, back in the 70's,boy bands as we now know them didnt really exist outside of the Osmmonds or Jackson 5 which were the inly real equivalents. Therefore young teens were drawn to the likes of sweet, mud, showaddywaddy etc.

Personally,my attitude was if i like it then fuck popular opinion or trying to look cool. My first ever gig was Bowie on the night he retired Ziggy yet i would be equally at ease the following day listening to my old Mum's Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jnr records.

I am currently listening to Linda Eadie,a star of broadway who can give Streisand a run for her money when it comes to belting iut show tunes yet 2 hiurs ago i had Led Zeppelin 2 on. Like i said earlier, theres room for everything.

Life is subjective Bung, my boy.

It just so happens though that strangely, every other cunt than me has it completely wrong!

All very lovely, but also very subjective.

Nothing wrong with that, but let's recognise things for what they are.

god that era was the only one where it was cool to be Scottish. And that says it all.

Re: Sweet - much maligned
The Sweet changed my life, by the way.

Boring fucking 70s Britain, fuck all to do on Sunday as all the shops were closed (same as Thursday afternoon), brown everywhere, bomb sites in the East End that we used to play on, poverty (not that we knew that at the time because all of us were poor so we were okay with it), rubbish in the streets and fucking boring shit music everywhere.

Then as a kid you watch Top Of The Pops and your dad starts shouting at the telly about some 'fucking poof in earrings' as The Sweet pound out Ballroom Blitz, Teenage Rampage, Hell Razor and I am thinking 'fuck! I don't have to be like the rest of these boring cunts'.

Then The Sex Pistols happened and you can imagine what my mum and dad thought of them. Shouting and screaming at The Today Show I suddenly realised that I had a new favourite band and wanted so much to fuck off somewhere else away from the kind of life my parents had (God love them).
